Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 2026

1. Overview

Wipe for Reddit ("the App", "we", "us", "our") is a desktop application that runs entirely on your local machine. We are committed to your privacy. This policy explains what data the App accesses, what it stores, and what it does not collect.

2. Data We Do Not Collect

We do not operate any servers that receive, process, or store your personal data. Specifically, we do not collect:

Your Reddit username, password, or any authentication credentials. The content of your Reddit posts or comments. Your IP address, device identifiers, or geolocation. Analytics, telemetry, usage statistics, or crash reports. Browsing behavior, search queries, or click tracking.

We have no servers, no databases, no analytics dashboards. We cannot see your data because we never receive it.

3. Data Stored Locally on Your Device

The App stores the following data locally on your computer using Electron's secure storage (electron-store). This data never leaves your device:

Reddit session cookies: After you sign in through Reddit's login page inside the App, session cookies (such as reddit_session and token_v2) are stored locally so you remain signed in across app restarts. These are the same cookies your web browser would store.

Cached posts and comments: After fetching your content from Reddit, the App caches it locally so subsequent app opens are instant. This cache is keyed by your Reddit username and can be cleared at any time from the App's Settings page.

License key (Pro users): If you activate a Pro license, your license key and activation status are stored locally. The license key is used to validate your license with LemonSqueezy (see Section 5).

App preferences: Settings such as your chosen export folder path are stored locally.

You can delete all locally stored data at any time by clearing the App's cache in Settings or by uninstalling the App and removing its data directory.

4. Reddit Authentication

When you click "Sign in with Reddit", the App opens Reddit's official login page (reddit.com/login) inside an embedded browser window. Your username and password are entered directly into Reddit's page and are sent directly to Reddit's servers. The App does not intercept, read, log, or store your credentials at any point.

After successful authentication, the App extracts only the session cookies set by Reddit. These cookies are used to make authenticated API requests to Reddit on your behalf, entirely from your local machine.

The App does not use Reddit's official OAuth API. Instead, it uses Reddit's internal web APIs (the same APIs that Reddit's own website uses) to fetch and delete your content. This means no third-party OAuth application is registered, and no access tokens are shared with any external service.

5. Third-Party Services

The App communicates with exactly two external services:

Reddit (reddit.com): To fetch your posts and comments and to delete content on your behalf. All requests are made directly from your machine using your session cookies. We do not proxy, relay, or log these requests.

LemonSqueezy (api.lemonsqueezy.com): Pro users only. The App contacts LemonSqueezy's API to validate your license key and check its activation status. The data sent is limited to your license key and a machine identifier (a hash of your device's hardware ID). LemonSqueezy's privacy policy governs how they handle this data. You can review it at lemonsqueezy.com/privacy.

The App does not use any analytics services (Google Analytics, Mixpanel, Amplitude, etc.), advertising networks, crash reporting tools (Sentry, Bugsnag, etc.), or any other third-party tracking or data collection service.

6. Data Shared with Third Parties

We do not sell, rent, trade, or otherwise share your personal data with any third party. Since we do not collect your data in the first place, there is nothing to share.

The only external data transmissions are those described in Section 5: your session cookies sent to Reddit (for functionality) and your license key sent to LemonSqueezy (for license validation).

7. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the applicable minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to address it.

8. Data Retention and Deletion

All data is stored locally on your device. We retain no data on any server. You are in full control of your data at all times.

To delete all App data: open the App's Settings page and use the Clear Cache buttons, or uninstall the App and delete its data directory from your system. On macOS this is typically in ~/Library/Application Support/, on Windows in %APPDATA%, and on Linux in ~/.config/.

9. Security

The App stores sensitive data (session cookies, license keys) using Electron's built-in storage mechanisms on your local file system. The security of this data depends on the security of your device and operating system.

We recommend keeping your operating system and the App up to date, and following standard security practices such as using a strong device password and keeping your computer physically secure.

All network communications between the App and Reddit use HTTPS encryption. All communications with LemonSqueezy also use HTTPS.

10. Your Rights

Since we do not collect or store any personal data on our servers, traditional data subject rights (access, correction, deletion, portability) do not apply in the conventional sense - there is no data held by us to access, correct, or delete.

All your data resides on your device and is fully under your control. You can view, export, and delete it at any time through the App's interface or by accessing the App's data directory on your file system.

If you are a Pro subscriber, LemonSqueezy holds your payment information and license data. To exercise rights related to that data, please contact LemonSqueezy directly or reach out to us and we will assist you.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
