Opening Wipe for Reddit for the First Time

The app isn't code-signed yet, so your OS will show a security warning on first launch. This is normal for independent apps - you only need to do this once.

Try to open the app

Double-click Wipe for Reddit after installing. A warning will appear saying "Wipe for Reddit" can't be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software (or similar). Click Done, don't move it to Trash.

Go to System Settings → Privacy & Security

Open System Settings (Apple menu → System Settings). Go to Privacy & Security and scroll to the Security section at the bottom. You'll see: "Wipe for Reddit" was blocked to protect your Mac.

Click "Open Anyway"

Click Open Anyway, then enter your admin password if prompted. The app will launch, and future opens work normally.

Older macOS: On macOS Sonoma (14) and earlier, you can right-click the app → click Open → then click Open again in the dialog. This shortcut was removed in macOS Sequoia (15).

Run the installer

Double-click the Wipe for Reddit Setup.exe. Windows Defender SmartScreen will show a blue warning: "Windows protected your PC" - this appears because the app is new and doesn't have a reputation with Microsoft yet.

Click "More info" → "Run anyway"

Click the More info link on the warning. A Run anyway button will appear - click it. The installer will proceed normally. You only need to do this once.

Alternative: If you don't see "More info", right-click the .exe → Properties → check Unblock under Security at the bottom → click Apply, then run the installer again.

Download the AppImage

Download the .AppImage file from the releases page. No installation needed.

Make it executable

Right-click the file → Properties → Permissions tab → check Allow executing file as program. Or run: chmod +x WipeForReddit-*.AppImage

Double-click to run

That's it. Double-click the AppImage to launch. Works on most distributions including Ubuntu, Fedora, and others.

Tip: Move the AppImage to a permanent folder (like ~/Applications) to keep things tidy.

Sign in with Reddit

Click "Sign in with Reddit" - a real Reddit login page opens inside the app. Sign in normally. 2FA and captcha work. Your credentials go directly to Reddit, never to us.

Browse, sort, and analyze

Your content loads into separate tabs. Sort by newest, oldest, most karma, or least karma. Filter by subreddit, search by keyword, or check the Insights tab for your full karma breakdown.

Delete what you want

Click delete on individual items, or select multiple and bulk delete (Pro). Each deletion has a built-in delay to stay under Reddit's radar. You can cancel a bulk delete at any time.

Heads up: Deleted content is gone forever - Reddit does not offer an undo. We recommend exporting your data (Pro) before deleting if you want a backup. Bulk deleting large amounts of content may cause Reddit to temporarily restrict your account.

Yes. The free version lets you view all your posts and comments, use the Insights dashboard, and delete up to 10 items per day. Pro is a one-time purchase that unlocks unlimited deletes, bulk operations, and JSON export.
Wipe for Reddit runs entirely on your machine. There are no analytics, no tracking, no data collection. Your credentials go directly to Reddit - we never see or store them. Only session cookies are kept locally on your device. The only external request is a license check (if you have Pro) which pings LemonSqueezy, not us.
Rapid or large-scale deletion activity may trigger Reddit's automated systems, which could result in rate limiting, temporary suspension, or other actions against your account. Wipe for Reddit uses randomized delays (1–3 seconds) between deletions to reduce this risk, but we cannot guarantee that your account will not be affected. We strongly recommend deleting in small batches and taking breaks between sessions. You use this app entirely at your own risk.

Reddit sessions expire periodically. If you get errors or the app tells you your session expired, just click "Sign in with Reddit" again. It takes a few seconds. If it happens during a bulk delete, the app will stop automatically and tell you what happened.
